چکیده

Integrate-and-Fire-type models are usually criticized because of their simplicity. On the other hand, the Integrate-and-Fire model is the basis of most of the theoretical studies on spiking neuron models. Here, we develop a sequential procedure to quantitatively evaluate an equivalent Integrate-and-Fire-type model based on intracellular recordings of cortical pyramidal neurons. We find that the resulting effective model is sufficient to predict the spike train of the real pyramidal neuron with high accuracy. In in vivo-like regimes, predicted and recorded traces are almost indistinguishable and a significant part of the spikes can be predicted at the correct timing. Slow processes like spike-frequency adaptation are shown to be a key feature in this context since they are necessary for the model to connect between different driving regimes.

Predicting and preparing a risk map of rangeland fires using random forest algorithms and support vector machine (Case study: Arak rangelands)

Abstract Background and objectives: Rangeland fires have devastating effects on the landscape, performance and services of rangeland ecosystems. Despite the efforts of experts, decision makers, stakeholders and government agencies in recent decades to reduce the effects of fire, its number and related economic and human losses are increasing worldwide. One of the most important measures to r...

Robust Modulation of Integrate-and-Fire Models.

By controlling the state of neuronal populations, neuromodulators ultimately affect behavior. A key neuromodulation mechanism is the alteration of neuronal excitability via the modulation of ion channel expression. This type of neuromodulation is normally studied with conductance-based models, but those models are computationally challenging for large-scale network simulations needed in populat...

Mean-Field Models for Heterogeneous Networks of Two-Dimensional Integrate and Fire Models

We analytically derive mean-field models for all-to-all coupled networks of heterogeneous, adapting, two-dimensional integrate and fire neurons. The class of models we consider includes the Izhikevich, adaptive exponential, and quartic integrate and fire models. The heterogeneity in the parameters leads to different moment closure assumptions that can be made in the derivation of the mean-field...

Importance of the Cutoff Value in the Quadratic Adaptive Integrate-and-Fire Model

The quadratic adaptive integrate-and-fire model (Izhikevich, 2003 , 2007 ) is able to reproduce various firing patterns of cortical neurons and is widely used in large-scale simulations of neural networks. This model describes the dynamics of the membrane potential by a differential equation that is quadratic in the voltage, coupled to a second equation for adaptation. Integration is stopped du...
